Looking for world-class Caribbean golf? We've got it here on St. Croix, where you can play year-round surrounded by stunning scenery. Call ahead to reserve a tee time, especially during the winter months, and try each of our three courses while you're with us.

Bring your raquet, too, since many hotels offer tennis and several St. Croix resorts open their courts to the public. Some are lighted for nigttime play and are tournament-quality with a pro on hand offering lessons. You'll find public courts at Canegata Ball Park near Christiansted and close to Fort Frederik on the west end.

Camrambola Golf & Country Club

Carambola Golf & Country Club: In a gated community open to the public, the 18-hole Carambola Golf Course was commissioned in the 1960s by Laurence Rockefeller and designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The vast, surrounding acreage near the island's north coast was an 18th century sugar plantation, and haunting ruins like a sugar mill still can be seen near the course clubhouse.

In addition to the challenging, tournament-quality course set in a lush valley, club facilities include a 250-yard driving range and putting green to prepare for your round, six clay tennis courts (two lit for night), and a swimming pool. The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for lunch and dinner, and a view of the #18 green. Also in the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with logo merchandise, clothing, caps and visors.

Buccaneer Golf Course

The Buccaneer Golf Course: Scenic is the word for this challenging, 18-hole, par 70 golf course on the Caribbean coast designed by Bob Joyce in 1973. The course, owned by The Buccaneer, wraps around the resort and is open to the public. You'll find good variety in the holes, most with sea views, including the spectacular #3 hole with a vista that extends across 40 miles of open sea to St. Thomas and the British Virgin Islands.

At the golf course clubhouse just inside the resort's main gate, the pro shop has signature clothing and other golf merchandise, and sells soft drinks and snacks. The resort's facilities include several restaurants that are open to the public unless the hotel is full (often during holiday periods.) A buffet breakfast is served at The Terrace in the main building, and lunch is available at two waterfront locations, the Mermaid and the Grotto Grill. A tennis club is also on the property.

The Reef

The Reef: Referred to by locals as the "easternmost golf course in the United States," this nine-hole course on the island's east end offers fun play for casual golfers. Some holes offer views of the sea and Buck Island.

Course facilities at the Reef condominium resort include a driving range and tennis courts. Next to the golf shop is a deli with a few tables and umbrellas for a shady sandwich after your round. Across the road is Duggan's restaurant, open for lunch during the winter months.

Miniature Golf: For a relaxing time, take the whole family to the Divi Carina Bay Resort's landscaped, 18-hole miniature golf course open to resort guests and to the public.
